Printing
PilotLog does not print directly to your printer. The reason for this is that different web browsers format printing differently, and often add unwanted headers and footers containing date, time, web address, etc. to printouts. Instead, PilotLog prints to PDF files. These can be read on any computer with Adobe Reader installed, which in practice is almost any computer that you will come across. If you do not have Adobe Reader on your computer, it is a free download; see the downloads link on the support page of our website. Before printing, you should select a layout option. If you have a duplex (two-sided) printer, or plan to have your log book professionally printed, choose one of the two duplex options. These print your log across a two-page spread and allow more space for the information. Landscape Duplex is the closest format to a traditional written log book.
You can accept our default print settings, or choose to show or hide various columns in the printout. This may be helpful if you wish to include extra information, or to save space if the printout does not fit easily on the page size you have chosen. In particular, turning off 'Hours Breakdown' will save a lot of width. The settings you choose are remembered and used as the default next time you print your log to ensure consistency.
Aircraft and airports are shown using the same display preferences as used in your flying log. Changing this to show airport codes instead of names can sometimes save a lot of space on the page.
